Gav has made significant contributions to the setup of our OCT systems, the development of our control software, as well as to getting the group’s cell culture capabilities up and running. As Lab Manager, Gav’s service to the group will help ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the Optics Lab, and the group’s (shared) Cell Culture and Chemistry Lab spaces.
March 2015: The group welcomes new PhD student Jeffrey Mulligan
Jeff is an ECE PhD student who has a B.S. in Engineering Sciences from Harvard University, with an emphasis on bioengineering and signal processing. His research in the group is focused on computational image formation methods for OCT and applications to biomedicine.
May 2014: Gavrielle Untracht joins the group to work on OCT and OCE software
The group welcomes Gavrielle Untracht, an Applied and Engineering student who just completed her Masters.
Feb 2014: Prof. Adie presents a talk on ARF-OCE at SPIE Photonics West
The talk, entitled “Acoustic radiation force optical coherence elastography (ARF-OCE) of phantoms and biological tissues based on focused ultrasound excitation”, presented work begun during Dr. Adie’s postdoc at UIUC, and included contributions from Sri Nivas Chandrasekaran in the Adie Lab.
Jan 2014: Ramin Jafari is the first PhD student to join the group

Ramin joins us with a Masters in ECE, and is interested in signal and image processing for OCT-based cancer research

The group welcomes Applied and Engineering Physics Masters student Sri nivas Chandrasekaran.
His research project is on Acoustic Radiation Force Optical Coherence Elastography.

July 2013: Dr. Steven Adie starts new research group in BME
The Department of Biomedical Engineering is pleased to announce that Assistant Professor Steven G. Adie has joined our faculty, beginning July 1, 2013. Adie earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (specializing in Biomedical Optics) from the University of Western Australia in 2007. Most recently he has been a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Biophotonics Imaging Laboratory at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Adie lab at Cornell will leverage OCT-based tomography of tissue structure and function to better understand the progression of disease. Of particular interest is the role of mechanics in cancer initiation and tumor development, to help establish the in vivo relevance of in vitro studies on cancer mechanics, and support the long-term goal of improving the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other diseases.
